Hi Everyone, it’s been awhile! As many of you know, Domaphile took a much-needed break from the blogosphere and we’ve been busy renovating. The most obvious change is the new logo and site layout, but lots more is happening behind the scenes as well: for instance, moving from WordPress.com to WordPress.org. Moving a blog is somewhat akin to moving your home: there is plenty of anticipation and optimism, coupled with moments of being overwhelmed by small details a là “I was sure that this dresser would fit next to the bed, now what?”.
Now that we are settling in, we have a few more virtual boxes to unpack. Such as the bibliography page: it’s currently a sample of recommended titles, but it will be expanding into a full bibliography over time. In the interest of simplicity, what used to be my giant blogroll has been incorporated into the reference page, integrating my favorite blogs with the other online sources that I think are worth knowing about. And check out the visual recipe index! Looking forward to adding to that very soon.
None of this would have been possible without the design and coding expertise of my exceptionally talented friend and colleague, Vanessa Rossi. While I might be able to whip up a batch of homemade deodorant or 23-skidoo some reusable bowl covers, coming up with a new blog design was proving to be a very frustrating challenge. Vanessa easily translated my ideas into reality -it’s like getting an architect to build you a cool new house!
So I am happy to be back and will be posting as we continue to work on various parts of the site this summer. Stay tuned for future missives on various topics: urban composting, Windowfarming, CSA abundance, summer picnics and DIY Gin!
The site looks beautiful! I love the new space. You’ve got great light with an extra bedroom or two, no?
