NO MORE DIRTY LOOKS: The Truth About Your Beauty Products and the Ultimate Guide to Safe and Clean Cosmetics is a book that I’ve referenced in several posts and was the reason I dispensed with nearly all my toiletries and started over again a couple of years ago. It is a winning combination of well-researched and dense information — the kind of stuff you don’t really want to know about the beauty industry, but yet, you do — conveyed with a sense of humor. I think I read it in less than a weekend. The authors, Siobhan O’Connor and Alexandra Spunt, have a blog by the same name where they continue to write about topics related to clean beauty and natural health. They run a series on the morning routines of their readers and this week the featured reader was….. me! So if you’re burning with curiosity about how I play it from 6:30 – 8:00, check out today’s post. I guarantee you’ll want to stick around for more of their witty banter on all things clean and beautiful.
The things you find out in someone else’s blog! I never knew your hair was limp and fine–it always looks so good. But I did know you were an Audrey Hepburn look alike, except for her eyebrows in that photo. This probably doesn’t fall into the homemade category, but I just got a Clarisonic skin cleanser for Valentine’s Day, and it really seems to promote clean skin, but I will try anything at this point to, maintain the status quo.
You convinced me No More Dirty Looks is on my list of books to read. I remember reading Naomi Wolf’s The Beauty Myth about twenty years ago and now I wish I bought into the beauty industry just a little bit. Well, maybe there’s hope when I read this book. Thanks!
I’m a regular NMDL reader and – after really enjoying your Morning Routine post over there – I was so glad to discover your blog! I have so enjoyed glutting on your past posts over the last… hour..oy, hours already?! Yeegads! Thank you so much!
Hi Dani- I love NMDL, too, and have learned a lot from them! So happy you are enjoying Domaphile – thanks for stopping by!
